09:15 AM EDT, 06/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower in pre-bell activity Friday as the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) was recently down 0.1%.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was 1.2% higher and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 0.1%.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 0.5% at $78.97 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 0.6% to $83.25 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.7% at $2.94 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
TotalEnergies (TTE) fell by over 2% after saying it has agreed to sell its subsidiary in Brunei to Malaysian firm Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad for $259 million.
