08:58 AM EDT, 10/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were edging higher premarket Tuesday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) up 0.1% recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.2% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.1% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 1.4% higher at $68.35 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 1.3% to $72.36 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 2.9% at $2.24 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
CECO Environmental ( CECO ) signed a definitive agreement to acquire Profire Energy ( PFIE ) for $125 million in cash. Profire Energy ( PFIE ) shares surged past 47% premarket.
