03:25 PM EST, 11/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher late Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) each rising 0.5%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index climbed 1.9%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was up 0.4%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 3.2% to $68.16 a barrel while the global benchmark Brent crude contract dropped 2.6% to $71.94 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures jumped 10% to $2.94 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Hawaiian Electric Industries ( HE ) shares were falling 6%. The company reported Q3 non-GAAP net income late Friday of $0.46 per diluted share, down from $0.56 a year earlier. Two analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $0.53.
