01:27 PM EST, 11/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.4% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) up 0.3%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was climbing 2%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was 0.4% lower.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 1.8% to $71.34 a barrel while the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 1.4% to $75.25 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were slumping 7.3% to $3.09 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, UGI (UGI) shares jumped more than 12% after it issued fiscal 2025 adjusted earnings per share guidance, with the upper end above market expectations.
