09:09 AM EDT, 05/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks edged higher premarket Friday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) recently advancing by 0.9%.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.3% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 2.4% higher.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 1.1% at $58.59 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.1% to $61.53 per barrel. Natural gas futures were 1.5% higher at $3.852 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) shares were up more than 1% after the company reported lower Q1 adjusted earnings, while revenue increased during the period.
