09:09 AM EDT, 05/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks rose premarket Monday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) recently advancing by 3.7%.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 3.8% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 2.6% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 3.8% at $63.31 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 3.5% to $66.17 per barrel, and natural gas futures were 1% lower at $3.76 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
NRG Energy ( NRG ) shares were up over 10% after the company reported higher Q1 adjusted earnings and revenue. Separately, NRG Energy ( NRG ) said it agreed to acquire CPower and a portfolio of natural gas generation facilities from LS Power Equity Advisors.
