01:15 PM EDT, 05/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.8% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.7%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index climbed 1.4%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index advanced 0.7%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was declining 1.2% to $60.79 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was dropping 1.2% to $63.99 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures rose 0.7% to $3.36 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Braskem ( BAK ) shares were rising 1.8%. Bloomberg reported Friday that Brazilian businessman Nelson Tanure is looking to buy Novonor's majority stake in Braskem ( BAK ).
