03:27 PM EDT, 06/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher late Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) each adding 0.8%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index climbed 2.5%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was down 0.3%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.2% to $65.35 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract advanced 0.9% to $67.06 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 3.8% lower at $3.64 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Plug Power ( PLUG ) shares surged 30% after the company said Chief Financial Officer Paul Middleton bought 650,000 common shares at an average price of $1.03 per share.
