01:30 PM EDT, 06/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks advanced Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.4% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.5%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was falling 1.2%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was up 0.5%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.1% to $73.60 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was dropping 2.7% to $76.72 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 3.2% lower at $3.86 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Centrus Energy ( LEU ) shares jumped past 7% after the US Department of Energy extended its contract to produce High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium, or HALEU, through June 2026, an extension valued at about $110 million.
