01:37 PM EDT, 07/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.6% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.9%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index climbed 3.6%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities index was fractionally lower.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.7% to $65.58 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 0.6% to $67.11 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 2.2% lower at $3.38 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Dominion Energy ( D ) shares rose 1.2% after it said Tuesday its South Carolina unit's application to extend the operating license for VC Summer Nuclear Station for 20 more years received approval from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
