03:33 PM EDT, 07/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks rose late Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) each adding 0.4%.

The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index climbed 0.8%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index gained 0.8%.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 2.2% to $66.88 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent declined 1.8% to $68.90 a barrel.

US natural gas stocks rose by 53 billion cubic feet in the week ended Friday, smaller than the gain of 62 billion expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg and following an increase of 55 billion in the previous week.

Henry Hub natural gas futures rose 3.8% to $3.34 per 1 million BTU.

In corporate news, New Fortress Energy's ( NFE ) planned $20 billion natural gas deal has been blocked by Puerto Rico's Financial Oversight and Management Board, which warned it would give the company near-total control of the island's energy supply, Bloomberg reported. New Fortress shares fell 5.3%.
