03:44 PM EDT, 08/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher late Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.2% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.6%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was advancing 0.7%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities index was decreasing 0.4%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.2% to $63.75 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract increased 0.1% to $66.51 a barrel.
Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 2.3% to $3.00 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Petrobras (PBR) shares dropped past 7% after it posted lower-than-expected Q2 earnings.
