03:33 PM EDT, 08/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were mixed late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index decreasing 0.3% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) fractionally higher.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was falling 1.1%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities index added 0.8%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 1.4% to $62.55 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract fell 1% to $65.96 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures slumped 4.4% to $2.76 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Prairie Operating ( PROP ) shares tumbled nearly 18% after Piper Sandler downgraded the stock to neutral from overweight and cut the price target to $3 from $9.
