03:27 PM EDT, 08/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks fell late Tuesday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index shedding 0.7% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) down 0.4%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index declined 1.2%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index rose 0.4%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil lost 2.4% to $63.28 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent dropped 2.3% to $67.25 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures rose 1.2% to $2.73 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Talen Energy ( TLN ) shares were rising 6% after S&P Dow Jones Indices said Monday the company will replace Interactive Brokers (IBKR) in the S&P MidCap 400.
