01:15 PM EDT, 08/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.4% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.6%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was up 0.3%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was 0.1% lower.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was declining 0.8% to $64.06 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was shedding 0.8% to $67.43 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures rose 1.6% to $2.99 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Equinor ( EQNR ) has signed a one-year deal to supply Orlen with more than 6 million tonnes of crude oil from the Johan Sverdrup field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, with deliveries to begin in September, Orlen said Friday. Equinor ( EQNR ) shares were rising 0.7%.
