03:18 PM EDT, 09/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index shedding 0.3% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) down 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index fell 0.9% and the Dow Jones US Utilities index declined 0.7%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 2.5% to $65.58 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent crude advanced 1.4% to $69.09 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures added 0.2% to $3.00 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, PG&E ( PCG ) said Tuesday it decreased electric rates for all of its residential customers by 2.1% on Monday. Its shares were fractionally lower.
