The United States Oil Fund (USO) was 1.7% lower and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 0.9%.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 1.5% lower at $62.69 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 1.4% to $66.52 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 0.9% at $3.00 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Chevron ( CVX ) has submitted a bid to explore for natural gas in four offshore blocks in Greece, teaming up with local energy company HelleniQ Energy, Reuters reported, citing Greece's Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou. Shares of Chevron ( CVX ) were 0.3% lower premarket.
