01:26 PM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.4% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.7%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was decreasing 0.5%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was shedding 0.9%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was declining 0.6% to $64.62 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was decreasing 0.4% to $69.04 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 0.8% higher at $2.88 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, BP (BP) said it now expects world oil consumption to keep rising until 2030, instead of 2025 as it projected a year ago, citing weaker-than-expected gains in energy efficiency. BP shares were up 0.2%.
