03:26 PM EDT, 10/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks advanced late Monday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index adding 0.6% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) up 0.5%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index increased 0.6%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index rose 0.4%.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allied OPEC+ producers opted for a second straight addition of 137,000 barrels per day in members' quotas for November, versus market expectations of 500,000 of new supply to gain market share amid rising production outside the cartel.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.4% to $61.72 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent advanced 1.5% to $65.51 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures gained 1.4% to $3.37 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, OPAL Fuels ( OPAL ) shares jumped 9% after the company and its joint venture partner South Jersey Industries said that their renewable natural gas facility in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, started commercial operation.
