01:29 PM EDT, 10/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks fell Thursday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index dropping 0.7% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) decreasing 0.9%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index fell 1.1%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index eased 0.1%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.9% to $57.75 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent fell 0.9% to $61.34 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures dropped 1.6% to $2.97 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Energy Transfer ( ET ) shares fell 1.5%. The company delayed its final investment decision for the planned Lake Charles LNG export project in Louisiana to Q1 2026, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.
