01:21 PM EDT, 10/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks fell Tuesday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index declining 0.4% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) easing 0.1%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index gained 2.3%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 1.1%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.1% to $57.60 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent advanced 0.1% to $61.07 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures climbed 0.9% to $3.44 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Chevron ( CVX ) and Shell (SHEL) are among the oil majors that have reduced oil and gas production at Kazakhstan's Karachaganak field after a Ukrainian drone strike damaged a gas processing plant in Russia, Reuters reported, citing Erlan Akkenzhenov, Kazakhstan's energy minister. Chevron ( CVX ) and Shell shares were down 0.1%.
