03:33 PM EDT, 10/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index decreasing 0.4% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) easing 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index gained 2.5%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 1.5%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.5% to $57.82 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent advanced 0.6% to $61.38 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures climbed 2.7% to $3.49 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Eversource Energy ( ES ) shares rose 0.2%. The company is set to benefit from improving regulatory tone in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, BofA Securities said in a note Tuesday. BofA upgraded the stock to buy from neutral and lifted its price objective to $85 from $73.
