01:31 PM EDT, 10/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.2% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.5%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index increased 0.7%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index rose 0.3%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.2% to $60.61 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 0.1% to $64.40 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures climbed almost 3% to $3.92 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Southern (SO) shares rose 0.5% after the company reported Thursday Q3 earnings and operating revenue above analysts' estimates.
