01:45 PM EST, 12/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.6% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 0.8%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was climbing 1.3%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index rose 0.5%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was declining 1% to $58.28 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was shedding 0.8% to $61.97 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 5.3% to $4.65 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Hess Midstream ( HESM ) shares rose 2.3% after the firm said Tuesday that it expects 2026 net income of $650 million to $700 million, and also projects relatively flat throughput volumes in oil and gas in 2026, compared with 2025.
