03:57 PM EDT, 04/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were edging higher late Monday, with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) recently climbing 0.7%.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was down 1.9%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) added 6.4%.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell about 1.5% to settle at $62.05 per barrel, while June Brent crude was last seen down about 1% at $65.65. Natural gas futures jumped over 8% to $3.18 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Alliance Resource Partners ( ARLP ) shares gained 0.4%. The company reported lower Q1 earnings and revenue compared with year-ago levels.
Amplify Energy ( AMPY ) rose over 10% after the oil and natural gas producer and Juniper Capital Advisors agreed to terminate their merger agreement, citing "extraordinary" market volatility.
