03:44 PM EDT, 06/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks edged higher late Friday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) both adding 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index rose 0.9%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index fell 0.9%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.5% to $81.33 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent crude rose 0.1% to $86.48 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 3.1% to $2.60 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, LandBridge ( LB ) shares surged 26% in their New York Stock Exchange debut after the company priced its initial public offering of 14.5 million class A shares at $17 apiece.
Plug Power ( PLUG ) will recognize the US Inflation Reduction Act's tax credit benefits for the production of clean hydrogen in its upcoming quarterly results. The shares fell 4.9%.
Brookfield (BN) attracted four bidders for its Spanish renewables company Saeta Yield, Reuters reported. Bidders expected to file final offers include China Three Gorges, UAE's Masdar, Engie and TotalEnergies (TTE). Brookfield shares fell 0.4%.
Ocean Power Technologies ( OPTT ) shares jumped 24% after the company signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement with Teledyne Technologies' (TDY) Teledyne Marine unit.
