The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 1.1% and the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 1.9% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 0.7% lower at $71.21 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.5% to $74.58 per barrel. Natural gas futures were down 2.5% at $2.679 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Murphy Oil ( MUR ) shares fell by 0.8% after the company reported lower Q3 adjusted net income from continuing operations and revenue that still topped analysts' expectations.
Chord Energy ( CHRD ) shares were down 3% after the company reported a decline in Q3 adjusted earnings.
Halliburton ( HAL ) shares fell by 1.7% after the company reported lower Q3 adjusted earnings and revenue.
