09:22 AM EDT, 06/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were advancing pre-bell Tuesday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) 0.8% higher recently.
The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was up 2.5% and the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 1.6% higher.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 1.9% at $73.14 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 2.1% to $74.76 per barrel, and natural gas futures were 1.5% higher at $3.80 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Geospace Technologies ( GEOS ) shares were up more than 19% after the company said it has been awarded a permanent reservoir monitoring contract for Mero Fields 3 and 4 from Petrobras (PBR), operator of the Mero field consortium.
W&T Offshore ( WTI ) shares were up more than 2% after the company said it has reached a settlement agreement with two of its largest surety providers, locking in its premium rates through next year.
