09:13 AM EDT, 06/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were advancing premarket Wednesday, with The Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) 1% higher.
The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was 2.1% higher and The United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was up 1.7%.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 2.2% at $66.43 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 1.9% to reach $68.14 per barrel, and natural gas futures were up 1.1% at $3.57 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Talen Energy ( TLN ) shares were up 3.9% after the company said it agreed to provide carbon-free nuclear power from its Susquehanna power plant in Pennsylvania to Amazon's (AMZN) cloud-computing unit Amazon Web Services' data centers in the region.
BP's (BP) liquefied natural gas and gas fields have attracted takeover interest from Abu Dhabi National Oil, which is internally assessing the potential acquisition of the assets should the British energy firm divest more units or consider a breakup, Bloomberg reported, citing sources with knowledge of the matter. BP shares were up 1%.
Atlas Energy Solutions ( AESI ) has received two additional driverless trucks from Kodiak Robotics and launched up to 24/7 driverless service, Kodiak said. Shares of Atlas Energy Solutions ( AESI ) were up 1.7%.
