09:23 AM EDT, 10/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were falling pre-bell Tuesday, with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) down by 1.2%.
The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) and the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) were 2.4% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 2.3% lower at $58.13 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 2.1% to reach $61.99 per barrel, and natural gas futures were down 2.1% at $3.05 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
BP (BP) said in a regulatory filing that it now expects upstream output to be higher in Q3 compared with the prior quarter. BP shares were down more than 2% premarket.
Cenovus Energy ( CVE ) said it has acquired a total of about 21.7 million common shares of MEG Energy as part of its bid to acquire the Toronto-listed firm. Cenovus Energy ( CVE ) stock was down more than 1% pre-bell.
