Sector Update: Energy Stocks Fall Premarket Thursday

09:23 AM EDT, 04/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were falling premarket Thursday, with The Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) 5% lower.

The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 7.4% and the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 3.7% higher.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 6.6% at $66.96 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil was 6.1% lower at $70.36 per barrel, and natural gas futures were 1.4% higher at $4.11 per 1 million British Thermal Units.

ExxonMobil ( XOM ) said it has appointed Matt Crocker as president of its ExxonMobil Product Solutions Co. and vice president of Exxon Mobil Corp. ( XOM ), starting May 1. Shares of Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) were down more than 4% pre-bell.

Eni (E) is gathering bids for a stake in its Plenitude unit and is discussing a potential valuation of up to 13 billion euros ($14.13 billion) for this stake sale round, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Shares of Eni were down more than 2% premarket.

TETRA Technologies (TTI) said it has received notice from the investor group led by Brad Radoff of its irrevocable withdrawal of its four director nominees from consideration at an upcoming annual meeting of shareholders. TETRA Technologies shares were down past 5% pre-bell.
