Sector Update: Energy Stocks Lean Lower Pre-Bell Monday

09:29 AM EDT, 04/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were leaning lower pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLE ) declining by 0.3%.

The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was 0.2% lower and The United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was up 1.9%.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was 0.5% lower at $110.94 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil fell 0.5% to $108.47 per barrel, and natural gas futures were up 2.3% at $2.86 per 1 million British Thermal Units.

Atlas Energy Solutions ( AESI ) stock was down more than 10% after the company said it plans to launch a $300 million private offering of convertible senior notes due 2031.

Proxy adviser Institutional Shareholder Services recommended a vote against a move by the board of BP (BP) to revoke some previous company-specific climate reporting resolutions, Reuters reported, citing a note seen by it. BP shares were 0.7% lower pre-bell.

Halliburton ( HAL ) said it has entered a collaboration with PETRONAS Suriname Exploration & Production and Valaris to support the development of PETRONAS Suriname's local assets. Halliburton ( HAL ) stock was down 0.5% premarket.
