04:02 PM EST, 11/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.7% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.9%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was climbing 0.7%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was decreasing 0.2%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.4% to $60.76 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract advanced 1.1% to $64.92 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 0.3% higher at $4.37 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) , Chevron ( CVX ) , private equity firm Carlyle (CG), and Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. are among companies interested in acquiring Russian energy giant Lukoil's international assets, Bloomberg reported. Exxon shares rose 1.1%, and Chevron ( CVX ) was up 0.2%.
New Fortress Energy ( NFE ) shares rose 3.2% after the firm said it has signed a forbearance agreement with holders of its senior secured notes due 2029 that extends the interest payment date.
Shell Energy Europe, a Shell (SHEL) unit, has signed a five-year power purchase agreement with Northland Power for about one-third of the production from Northland's 332 megawatt Nordsee One offshore wind farm, Northland said. Shell shed 0.1%.
Clean Energy Fuels ( CLNE ) shares rose 1.6% after it said Tuesday that it has been awarded a contract to design and build a hydrogen fueling station for public transportation operator Gold Coast Transit District in Ventura County, California.
