01:50 PM EST, 02/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.3% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 0.4%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index climbed 0.6%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was up 0.3%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was shedding 0.3% to $66.25 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was decreasing 0.5% to $71.40 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 2% to $2.99 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, the US Supreme Court will review a Colorado Supreme Court ruling stating that the city and county of Boulder can use state law to press a lawsuit against Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) and Suncor Energy ( SU ) , media outlets reported Monday. Exxon shares were up 2.1%, and Suncor was rising 0.9%.
Chevron ( CVX ) and Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) have purchased condensate cargoes from Saudi Aramco's $100 billion Jafurah gas project, Reuters reported. Chevron ( CVX ) shares added 0.4%.
TotalEnergies (TTE), Repsol, and HitecVision received approval from the European Commission for their acquisition of joint control of Neo Next Energy, the regulator said Monday. TotalEnergies shares advanced 0.1%.
