01:49 PM EDT, 06/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks advanced Tuesday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 1.3% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 1.5%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index jumped 4.4%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index climbed 0.6%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.8% to $63.63 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent gained 1.8% to $65.80 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures advanced 1.6% to $3.75 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Viper Energy ( VNOM ) agreed to acquire Sitio Royalties ( STR ) for $4.1 billion in stock, including $1.1 billion in net debt, to expand in the Permian Basin. Viper shares rose 3.7% and Sitio jumped 16%.
Meta (META) agreed to buy electricity from Constellation Energy ( CEG ) in a deal that would keep Constellation's nuclear power facility, Clinton Clean Energy Center, operational for two more decades. Constellation shares added 0.9%.
VivoPower ( VVPR ) shares jumped 20% after the company said the planned sale of a 51% stake in its Tembo unit for $200 million to Abu Dhabi-based Energi passed the second stage of due diligence.
