01:36 PM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were advancing in Thursday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 0.8% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) ahead 0.6%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index spiked 5%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) climbed 2.6%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was increasing 0.3% to $57,900, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was dropping 10 basis points to 4.18%.

In economic news, the US seasonally adjusted consumer price index slipped 0.1% in June from May, compared with the 0.1% increase expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg and a flat reading in May. The year-over-year headline and core CPI slowed to 3% and 3.3%, respectively, from 3.3% and 3.4% in the previous month.

In corporate news, Envestnet ( ENV ) shares were shedding 0.1% after it said Thursday it has agreed to be acquired by Bain Capital in a deal valuing it at $4.5 billion.
