The Philadelphia Housing Index popped 5.7%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) jumped 2.5%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) eased 0.5% to $57,453, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries slumped 9 basis points to 4.19%.
In economic news, the US seasonally adjusted consumer price index slipped 0.1% in June from May, compared with the 0.1% increase expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg and a flat reading in May. The year-over-year headline and core CPI slowed to 3% and 3.3%, respectively, from 3.3% and 3.4% in the previous month.
In corporate news, KKR (KKR) and Axel Springer Chief Executive Mathias Dopfner are in talks to break up the media conglomerate, the Financial Times reported Thursday. KKR shares were shedding 0.5%.
