03:30 PM EDT, 10/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks edged higher in late Thursday afternoon trading with the NYSE Financial Index and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) both up 0.1%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index climbed 1.5%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) added 0.3%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) rose 1.8% to $67,882, while the yield for 10-year US Treasuries shed 4.2 basis points to 4.20%.

In economic news, US initial jobless claims last week fell to 227,000 from an upwardly revised 242,000 level in the previous week, below expectations for 242,000 in a survey of analysts compiled by Bloomberg.

In corporate news, CBRE ( CBRE ) shares jumped 8.6% after the company reported Q3 earnings and revenue that rose more than forecast and raised the full-year profit outlook.
