01:10 PM EDT, 08/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were lower in Friday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index falling 1.2% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) dropping 1.8%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was climbing 1.1%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was fractionally lower.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 3% to $114,727, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was dropping 13 basis points to 4.23%.
In economic news, nonfarm payrolls rose by 73,000 in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. The consensus was for a 104,000 increase, according to a survey compiled by Bloomberg. The BLS said the revisions for May and June were "larger than normal," with gains downgraded by 133,000 to 14,000 for June and by 125,000 for May.
In corporate news, Coinbase (COIN) shares were falling past 16% after several analysts cut their price targets on the stock following its Q2 results that missed market expectations.
