Sector Update: Financial Stocks Advance Premarket Thursday

09:15 AM EDT, 06/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were advancing premarket Thursday with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) 0.3% higher recently.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was up 1% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 1.1% lower.

Cboe Global Markets ( CBOE ) shares were nearly 2% higher after the company said the average daily trading volume of index options reached 4.3 million contracts in May, up roughly 15% from a year earlier.

Citigroup ( C ) shares were up 0.4% after the compant said it will cut the number of employees at two of its technology solutions centers in China by roughly 3,500.

Royal Bank of Canada ( RY ) shares were 0.5% higher after the company said it launched a $1.25 billion offering of non-viability contingent capital additional tier 1 limited recourse capital notes series 6.
