Sector Update: Financial Stocks Decline Pre-Bell Tuesday

09:18 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were declining pre-bell Tuesday, with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) 0.2% lower.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was down 0.4% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 0.5% higher.

Ambac Financial Group ( AMBC ) shares were down more than 6% after the company said it completed the $420 million cash sale of its legacy financial guarantee businesses, Ambac Assurance and Ambac Assurance UK, to funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management.

Visa (V) stock was 0.7% higher after the company said it will launch a stablecoin prefunding pilot through Visa Direct in a bid to help businesses fund cross-border payments faster.

UBS (UBS) and Switzerland are privately open to a compromise on new capital rules, potentially clearing a path for lower requirements acceptable to both sides, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the situation. Shares of UBS were 0.7% lower premarket.

The Indian market recovered marginal losses at the closing on Monday. The market traded in line with Asian peers as a sharp surge in crude oil prices after OPEC, allied producers agreed record output cut. Sectors like realty, financial services and media saw substantial losses, slipping nearly 5 percent in trade. Pharma and metal indexes were the only ones to trade in the green. Bajaj Finance and Zee Entertainment remained the top losers of the day, slumping 10 percent each.
