Sector Update: Financial Stocks Decline Premarket Wednesday

09:24 AM EDT, 09/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were declining premarket Wednesday, with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) 0.3% lower.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) were 0.8% lower and the bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) were up 1%.

Green Dot ( GDOT ) shares were up more than 3% after the company said it plans to exit operations in China by the end of the year, in a decision that is expected to lower annual costs by $6 million to $7 million.

Aon (AON) was 2.2% lower after the company said it has agreed to sell a "significant majority" of NFP's wealth businesses to Chicago-based private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners for $2.7 billion.

Activist hedge fund HoldCo Asset Management plans to nominate directors to the Comerica ( CMA ) board to encourage the Texas-based regional bank to consider a potential sale, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing the people familiar with the matter. Comerica ( CMA ) shares were down 0.6% premarket.
