Sector Update: Financial Stocks Lean Lower Pre-Bell Friday

09:21 AM EDT, 10/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were leaning lower pre-bell Friday as the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLF ) was down 0.1% recently.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was down 0.3% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 0.6% higher.

Several of Japan's largest financial institutions have suspended trading activities with Nomura Holdings ( NMR ) following a market manipulation scandal, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Nomura Holdings ( NMR ) shares were over 3% lower premarket.

American Express ( AXP ) shares declined by nearly 4% even after the company reported higher Q3 adjusted earnings and revenue, and raised its 2024 earnings per share outlook.

Ally Financial ( ALLY ) shares fell by nearly 6% even after the company reported higher Q3 adjusted earnings and net revenue.
