Sector Update: Financial Stocks Lean Lower Pre-Bell Wednesday

09:15 AM EST, 03/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were declining pre-bell Wednesday, with The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) marginally lower.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was inactive and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 0.2% higher.

Banco Santander's (SAN) US investment banking operations more than doubled profit in 2024 after large investments in the business, Bloomberg News reported, citing a company representative. Banco Santander shares were up over 3% premarket.

OppFi ( OPFI ) stock was up past 15% after the company reported higher Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue.

Bread Financial ( BFH ) shares were nearly 3% higher after the company said the board has approved a plan for the buyback of up to $150 million of its common shares.
