Sector Update: Financial Stocks Mixed Tuesday Afternoon

01:48 PM EDT, 06/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were mixed in Tuesday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index easing 0.1% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) adding 0.1%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index was climbing 2.1%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was up 0.6%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was up 0.7% to $109,047, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was slightly lower at 4.47%.

In economic news, investors are focused on the second day of trade talks in London between delegations headed by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. Officials from both sides are trying to reach a deal to end the Sino-US tariff battle between the world's two largest economies.

The National Federation of Independent Business small business optimism index posted a 3-point increase for May to 98.8.

In corporate news, Brown & Brown ( BRO ) agreed to acquire RSC Topco, the holding company for Accession Risk Management Group, for about $9.83 billion on a cash and debt-free basis, the companies said. Brown & Brown ( BRO ) shares were down 1.9%.

UBS (UBS) shares were falling 2% after JPMorgan Chase said in a research note that new Swiss capital rules may hamper the bank's ability to repurchase shares.

Citigroup ( C ) expects banking fees and markets revenue to rise in Q2 from a year earlier, despite "anxiety" over US tariffs, Reuters reported, citing Vis Raghavan, the head of banking, speaking at a conference. Citi shares were easing 0.2%.
