The Philadelphia Housing Index was adding 0.2%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was easing 0.3%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) spiked 4.1% to $66,472, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was rising 4.4 basis points to 4.23%.
In corporate news, American Express' ( AXP ) Q2 earnings surpassed Wall Street's views while revenue fell short of expectations as the company increased its full-year profit outlook to reflect a gain from the sale of its fraud prevention solutions provider. Its shares fell 3.3%.
Travelers (TRV) reported stronger-than-expected Q2 earnings on Friday, while earned premiums fell short of analyst estimates. Its shares dropped 7.6%.
Fifth Third Bancorp ( FITB ) , Huntington Bancshares ( HBAN ) , and Regions Financial ( RF ) on Friday reported Q2 financial results that fell year over year amid declines in net interest income. Fifth Third shares were rising 1.4%, Huntington was adding 3%, and Regions rose 0.7%.
