01:42 PM EDT, 04/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were lower Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index down 0.2% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) shedding 0.3%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 1.8%.

In sector news, pharmaceuticals appear to have dodged reciprocal tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, but it may be premature to celebrate, analysts at RBC Capital Markets said.

In corporate news, Sarepta Therapeutics ( SRPT ) shares fell more than 6% after media reports that the European Medicines Agency has placed a temporary hold on enrollment and dosing in multiple ongoing trials of the company's gene therapy Elevidys for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
