01:35 PM EDT, 08/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks rose Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) each adding 1%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) increased 0.5%.

In corporate news, GSK (GSK) shares rose nearly 1% after it said Friday it will receive $370 million in its mRNA patent settlement deal between CureVac ( CVAC ) and BioNTech (BNTX). CureVac ( CVAC ) shares shed 0.3% and BioNTech was up 0.6%.
