Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Advance Late Afternoon

03:56 PM EDT, 06/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were rising late Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index adding 0.4% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) up 0.3%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 0.1%.

In corporate news, Calidi Biotherapeutics ( CLDI ) shares jumped past 11% after the company said Monday that it signed a collaboration agreement with Siga Technologies ( SIGA ) in Q1 to back the development of Calidi's systemic and targeted RTNova virotherapy platform, which could potentially provide a universal treatment for all tumor types. Siga ( SIGA ) shares rose 1.1%.

CNS Pharmaceuticals ( CNSP ) shares tumbled 23.6% after it filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for an offering of shares and warrants expected to generate about $9.2 million in net proceeds.

Moderna ( MRNA ) released positive data from a phase 3 trial of its combined vaccine for influenza and COVID-19, saying the product was more effective versus existing standalone shots for the viruses. Its shares were down 1.4%.

23andMe (ME) is facing a probe by UK and Canadian regulators over a data breach in October 2023 that could have exposed the personal information of its customers. Its shares dropped 1%.
