The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) increased 0.4%.
In corporate news, Tourmaline Bio ( TRML ) shares surged 57% after the company agreed to be acquired by Novartis ( NVS ) for $48 a share in cash, representing an equity value of $1.4 billion. Novartis ( NVS ) shares fell 0.4%.
UnitedHealth ( UNH ) shares jumped past 8% after the firm said interim data for Star Year 2026/Payment Year 2027 suggested about 78% of its membership will be in 4-star or higher plans, consistent with expectations and past performance.
Tiziana Life Sciences ( TLSA ) shares surged 13% after the firm said Tuesday that Chief Executive Ivor Elrifi has bought 14,848 shares of the company at $1.65 per share.
PACS (PACS) shares tumbled 29% after the company said Chief Financial Officer Derick Apt resigned Sept. 2. An investigation found that Apt accepted "a series of high-value items" from individuals associated with entities with which the company does business, thereby breaching company policies, PACS said.
Elutia ( ELUT ) shares dropped past 20% after the firm said it has agreed to sell its EluPro and CanGaroo bioenvelopes to Boston Scientific ( BSX ) for $88 million in cash. Boston Scientific ( BSX ) shares were down 0.2%.
